Did you know?

The word 'Weald' comes from the German word 'Wald' meaning uncultivated wilderness.

The High Weald remains the most densely wooded area in England.

Vineyards

Bluebell Vineyard

Wealden boasts over 20 vineyards making the most of the beautiful rolling Sussex countryside. The lime chalk soil, prevalent throughout Sussex, is the same soil type found in the Champagne region of France.  It contributes to Wealden's ability to produce quality grapes for sparking wines.

Parks and Open Spaces

Sheffield Park walking

Wealden is classified as one of the most rural districts in England and places a high value on protecting the countryside; the parks and open spaces rival those of anywhere in the UK from coastal nature reserves to tranquil flowered gardens, country parks and forests.

Shopping

There is a full range of well-known supermarkets, small independent specialist shops, including arts and crafts, antiques, local produce and farmers markets. If you need a more unique experience for that special gift, Wealden can provide this too.
