The Lavender Line is a restored section of the railway between Lewes and Uckfield, which closed in 1969. Visitors can see a restored SR station and take steam and diesel rides along 1 mile of restored line. There is also a signal box, museum and model railway, gift shop, family garden, picnic area, Cinders Buffet plus small exhibition in a railway coach. Also available are wine and dine trains, childrens' parties, driving days and private functions. The Lavender Line is family friendly and East Sussex's best kept secret. Discover it for yourself.
Opening details
We also open on bank holidays and some additional special events days plus some additional weekdays during the summer months.
On many Saturdays the railway is used for steam footplate training courses and on these days we are unable to offer a public train service although the site will be open for visitors to watch the activities.
The buffet, shop and some other facilities will normally also be open.
On running days, the station and buffet are open from 9-00am for breakfast or other refreshments.
Trains normally run about every 30 minutes throughout the day from 11.00am to 5.00pm except for Santa trains and certain special event days.
